Solitaire is a family of single-player card games. If you’re brand new, this page gets you from “what are the rules?” to your first win, using the friendliest variants on SolitaireHot.

What is solitaire?

Most solitaire games share one goal: sort a shuffled deck into ordered piles. Klondike builds four foundations from Ace to King by suit, moving cards on a seven-column tableau.

Start with the easy games

Begin with Klondike Turn 1 (one card per draw), then Spider 1 Suit, then Pyramid or Golf. These have forgiving rules and quick feedback, so you learn the rhythm without frustration.

Your first deal, step by step

Deal the game, then look for Aces and Twos to move to foundations. Reveal face-down cards by moving stacks, and draw from the stock when stuck. Use Hint once if you stall — then keep playing on your own.
